Doug directs Northwest Grassroots & Communications, an affiliate firm in Portland, OR.  He has more than 20 years of experience at communications, legislative advocacy, and issues outreach in the Pacific Northwest and Washington, DC.


He specializes in a collaborative coalition building approach that has resulted in dozens of successful projects for Bechtel National, Central Oregon Cities Organization, NIKE, Northwest Aluminum, National Electrical Contractors Association, Portland General Electric,, Oregon Primary Care Association, and numerous coalitions on energy, environmental, and economic development issues.

Doug presently works closely on a bipartisan basis with legislators from around the Northwest region on dozens of health care, renewable power, and water conservation projects.  He worked as a congressional staffer during the 1980s and 90s for Senator Mark Hatfield (R-OR) and three senior members of the US House of Representatives.


He is a member of the Columbia Symphony Orchestra and the Washington County Commission on Children and Families.  He is also a graduate of Lewis & Clarke College in Portland, Oregon.
